Attention all Yule Ball showgoers!

We will be trying something really special at the Yule Ball and we would love for you to be a part of it!

We are having an open call for musicians to accompany us!  Our friend Sam Bortka was kind enough to write horn charts for a handful of our songs, so we're posting them right here and hoping that you will come join us for our fourth annual Yule Ball and be a part of Harry and the Potters.

The songs we may or may not be playing together are:

New Wizard Anthem
Song for the Death Eaters
We Save Ron's Life, Part 8
Hagrid
Save Ginny Weasley from Dean Thomas
the Weapon

And here are the links to download the horn charts!

Clarinet (3 parts)
Bass Clarinet
Flute/Piccolo
Mellophone (3 parts)
Alto Sax
Tenor Sax
Baritone Sax
Trombone
Bass Trombone
Trumpet (3 parts)
Tuba

If you play something that's not listed there, find a part that's in the same key as your instrument and use it! Sorry, but we cannot accomodate any electric instruments.

If you are interested in performing, you must email us to let us know!  We will send you instructions on where to be and when.  On the day of the show, you must be available from 2:30-4:00pm for a rehearsal and from 9pm to 10:30pm for the performance.  You must also purchase a ticket to the show!  Sorry, we'd love to get you all in free, but we can't do it!  We will have a safe space for you to store your instruments between the rehearsal and the performance.  You should also plan to bring a printout of your music and your own music stand.

If you have any other questions, please email Paul!  We are very serious (and very excited!) about this!  What are you waiting for?!?  Print out that music and start practicing!!

See you soon!

WOW!

What a summer!  The Unlimited Enthusiasm Expo was truly incredible!  Thank you to each and ever person who attended one of our 40 shows!  Thank you to all of the volunteers who made each show so special and unique - far beyond what any normal rock show could ever be.  Thank you to all the Harry Potter Alliance Volunteers - together we registered over 300 new voters at Unlimited Enthusiasm shows this summer!  Thank you to Jason Anderson, Fishboy, Iji, Good Luck, Atom Goren, Whompy, Remus, and JFF - all of whom joined us onstage at one time or another.  Thank you to Math the Band and Uncle Monsterface who were there with us every night to share in our enthusiasm and to continually inspire us.  And thank yhou to John "Big Daddy" Clardy, who stepped into some Weasley-sized drumming shoes and ruled the kit and took our show to new levels, despite only a modicrum of magical training.

We miss you all already!

xoxo,
Paul and Joe

Oh man!  We are SO PUMPED for this summer tour!

Yesterday we celebrated our 6th BANDIVERSARY!  That's right, 6 years of Harry and the Potters!  Wow!  I can't really even belive that, but I'm just gonna roll with it.  As always, thank you so much for your continued support.  Being in this band has been a truly special and unbelievable experience for us.  As we prepare to embark on our 5th straight summer of touring, we do hope that you'll find an evening to join us.  We don't tour much anymore, so this is really your only chance to see us in 2008.  If you've seen us before, come see us again!  If you've never seen us, DON'T MISS IT!  This summer's show is gonna be INCREDIBLE!!!  We've got all sorts of awesome stuff lined up and even a new song or two!

I'm also really happy to announce our participation in something I've been working on for the past few months.  The Harry Potter Alliance and Wizard Rock community have together organized Wizard Rock the Vote. We are looking for two volunteers (of any age...it's okay if you're under eighteen to volunteer) at every Wizard Rock concert across the country to help register audience members to vote. You'll get to work with the bands and help talk to awesome people at the concert and register them to vote!

As a volunteer, the bands will provide you with a clipboard and registration forms before the concert to sign people up to vote for the November election.

If you are interested in being one of these awesome volunteers, check out concerts near you and fill out the form or send an email directly to samantha@thehpalliance.org - and check out the participating bands we have so far (more coming), and participate in a lively forum discussion around who's volunteering. I've posted a list of all our summer tour dates below, and there are dates from many other bands listed on the HPA website. Our tour starts next week so volunteer NOW!

You can also help support this campaign by putting up these Wizard Rock the Vote banner ads on your myspace and facebook profiles:

Joe and I also made this awesome promo video for the campaign!  OMG!

See it on YouTube

Also, this is an awesome sand castle we built after practice one day last week.  We have Unlimited Enthusiasm for sand castles!

Yours in the revolution,
